Administrative Placement
The official attendance zone boundary for each elementary, middle, and high school is established by the Savannah-Chatham County Board of Education. Students are to attend the school in the zone of the bona fide residence of their parents/legal guardians unless they have administrative approval to enroll elsewhere. A student does not establish a bona fide residence by living in the district or a particular attendance zone for only a portion of the week or only on school days unless this arrangement is specified in a divorce decree or other court order.
Administrative placement is only available during the annual administrative placement window and is subject to availability based on each school's capacity.
Policies and Procedures regarding intra-district transfers are the responsibility of the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System. The Office of School Leadership organizes and facilitates the student administrative placement process for grades K-12. The goal is to work with parents and students in addressing their requests for placement in schools outside of the assigned school zone.
- Transportation will not be provided and is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
- Applications are time-stamped on a first-come, first-served basis.
- All students must be in good academic, attendance, and disciplinary standing.
- Students must be currently enrolled to apply for administrative placement.
- Any high school student transferring under this law is still subject to the eligibility requirements of the Georgia High School Association. The student must verify eligibility with the Athletics office to determine if a transfer will result in the loss of eligibility.
